We welcome all ages to sail with us! We have life jackets available for all guests, but they are optional for those above age 12. To access our sailboat, guests should plan to utilize a walking ramp from the Riverwalk to the dock - steepness depends on the tides. We use a 2 step mounting block for guests to board the sailboat. Movement of the dock and boat for boarding are dependent on various weather conditions. If you have any concerns about accessibility, please feel free to give us a call at (910) 331 - 5009 and we will be happy to discuss any and all questions you have!
Guests are not required to bring anything! We have life vests for all passengers aboard at all times, which are only required for guests 12 years old and younger. We provide bottled water for all guests at no additional charge.
Guests are welcome to bring their food and beverages of choice with them for the cruise. Near where we set sail, there are a few restaurants with wonderful to go options, and a few convenience stores are located nearby for drinks and snacks. We are able to provide food & beverage options waiting for your party on-board; please contact us for package and pricing options!
Children 12 and under must wear a life vest, as required by law. We provide life vests for all guests and carry them on board at all times. Our Coast Guard compliant children's life vests are suitable for children above 15lbs. If you plan to bring a child under 15lbs., or have any other questions about our life jacket procedures, please give us a call at (910) 331 - 5009 and we will be happy to answer them for you!
There are plenty of parking options near where we dock! Street parking spots are metered at $2.50/h, 9:00-6:30pm, Monday through Saturdays; street parking is free on Sundays and holidays! There are often street parking spots available within walking distance of the dock, even on the weekends. If you prefer a parking deck, we recommend the city-owned deck at 115 Market Steet,; they have the best rates in the area, at $1/h for up to 4 hours, and $9 for up to 12 hours. Click here to see more information on the City of Wilmington's website!
You will find us right where Market Street meets the Cape Fear River, you can usually see our mast from blocks away if you are driving down Market Street! We meet our guests at the Wilmington City Docks, right next to the small public park on the Riverwalk at the intersection of Market and Water Street. The park has a large flagpole and a beautiful glass and iron Venus flytrap statue; the gate to access the docks is directly to the left of the statue's flower bed. We will be waiting for you, so please let us know when you have arrived at the park (just say hi over the railing!) and we will come help you onto the docks and on board S/V Freyja for your charter! As always, if you have any questions, concerns, or issues finding us, give us a call at (910) 331-5009 !
We have no clothing or footwear requirements. Guests may wear their shoes or go barefoot aboard the sailboat. Sun protection is recommended, -we provide a variety of premium sunscreens for our guests to use. We encourage guests to bring sunglasses, a shade hat, or anything else that will ensure their comfort in the sunny Wilmington weather! But don't worry, if you forget yours, we have plenty to loan!
Nope! We welcome first time sailors and experienced enthusiasts alike! We love when our guests help hoists sails or man the wheel, but no one is expected or required to help.
The tides, wind and river currents make every sail a little different, but one thing every charter will see is the heart of downtown Wilmington - the beautiful waterfront! With it's historic brick warehouses and wooden riverwalk stretching down the river's edge nearly to the bridge, this part of every cruise is great for people watching or just relaxing. We may sail downriver past the Port of Wilmington, where large container ships and other cargo vessels dock near the massive cranes to load and unload. Another route takes us upriver on the main branch of the Cape Fear into a coastal marshland. You'll see plenty of birds and wildlife, possibly even an alligator! Please contact us with any other questions or for further information about itinerary!
